Yongjae Kim

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Data Innovation in Science, Seoul National University. I received my Ph.D. in Statistics from Seoul National University in 2026, advised by Prof. Sungkyu Jung.

My research focuses on statistical inference, especially nonparametric methods for measuring dependence, association, and conditional association in mixed-type and high-dimensional data. I am interested in characterizing complex relationships without relying on restrictive parametric models, with connections to distribution-free inference, feature screening, variable selection, and modern biomedical data analysis.

Another line of my research concerns privacy and disclosure risk in synthetic data. I develop general frameworks for assessing attribution disclosure risk, aiming to quantify how much sensitive information may be revealed by synthetic data while accounting for both data utility and privacy protection.
